The first civilian-run medicine museum in China, the Yushengtang Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is located at No. 235, Wangfu Flat, Qijia Town, Changping District, Beijing. Yushengtang is a well-known drugstore in China with a more than 300-year history. It was built in the 36th year of the Wanli Period in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and it was a place that employed the use of traditional Chinese medical science, Chinese medicines, and Chinese medical appliances, earning it a high reputation in the Shanxi Province, Shandong Province, Hebei Province, Shaanxi Province, and city of Beijing. As such, Emperor Qianlong bestowed Yushengtang with a horizontally-inscribed board declaring its name for its great contributions to the Chinese medicine industry in the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911).
