Xinchang Silicified Woods National Geopark, one of the third batch of the national geoparks [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources of P.R.C., is situated in the west of Xinchang County, and in the Xinchang Cretaceous Basin of Mesozoic active belt at the continental fringe of southeastern China. It covers an area of 68.7 sq km.

The geological remains such as the Danxia geomorphy, "hundreds peaks pointing skywards like candles", the marvelous silicified woods, the valleys [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], and mountain streams, have made up the grand spectacle of "thousands of cliffs competing the beauty, and millions of streams racing into the valleys".

What to See (the Main Attractions)

[ Anxi—Wangjiaping Silicified Woods Geo-remains] It is the best reserved and originally buried woods' fossils colony, with the largest scale in east China.

[ Nineteen Penetrated Peaks—"Pulling off Boot Upside Down" Scenic Area] [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] The red glutenite Danxia geomorphy, and the tuffaceous geomorphy coexist in the area. It is a typical site for studying the evolution process of such landforms.

[ The Big Buddha Temple—the Ten Miles Undercurrent] This is the most popular place for sight-seeing in Xinchang, and is a national AAAA scenic area.
